Well, tonight was the last sim before the checkride. It was busy and long, but I think it went well. There were, as always, a few debrief items, but the last two sessions seemed to me to be continuous improvements over the one before those.
Today’s profile was somewhat like the checkride, though there were more abnormals and other kinds of things that we wound up doing because the engineers needed it (I guess). We did V1 cuts, rejected takeoffs, engine failures, engine fires, multiple engine failures, flap / slat malfunctions, precision approaches, non precision approaches, handflown stuff, autopilot work, holding patterns… and at the end of it all, I did 3 takeoffs and landings from the right seat. It almost felt familiar when I wasn’t looking down at the panel filled with round dials.
I’m off tomorrow and then the type rating ride is Wednesday morning. Wish me luck…
