Also, I got an update on Scott. He had surgery yesterday and it turns out the cancer is not lymphoma. It’s 90% probable that it’s thyroid cancer. They removed an egg-size tumor which was completely contained and will biopsy it and return a more certain diagnosis soon. If it is, indeed, thyroid cancer, they may do another operation soon.
The good news there is that it’s just about the opposite from pancreatic cancer with respect to survivability. Where 5-year survival rates for pancreatic cancer is well under 5%, the 5-year survival rates for thyroid cancer are around 95%. So that’s good news for Scott.

yeah, I was going to correct your previous post, but you have it right now. If it is indeed thyroid cancer, they will remove the thyroid on the 17th. Those statistics really *are* good for Scott. BTW, I saw him in church today and he looked good… even let me give him a (gentle) hug. 🙂
