A flight attendant I recently flew with who works in the training department told me he had made some videos for inflight (flight attendant) training covering a lot of what goes into making a World Airways flight happen. There are three videos on youtube totalling about 30 minutes. They cover a lot of it and if you haven’t spent much time wondering what all it takes to make an airplane move, these will give a little feel (though they really just scratch the surface). It’s pretty amazing, really.
Part 1 covers sales, aircraft scheduling, and other areas of the pre-operational aspects of our business. Part 2 and Part 3 are more operationally related, covering ground operations, flight operations, inflight, and the various management and support departments that enable our aircraft to move. In parts 2 and 3, a trip from Atlanta to Leipzig and back are operated. By the time you’ve watched all 3 videos, you’ll be as stunned as I am that any airplane actually moves. 😉
And for a more visual and entertaining 5 minutes of World stuff, there’s a video taken from a Pilot’s point of view (mostly MD-11 stuff).
