The news lives on…
My sister-in-law passed away. Thanks to those of you who sent condonlances. As often happens with family passings, deep thoughts have occasionally visited our household. More on that later (*much* later, probably).
But I’ve been in more of a fog due to a killer virus / cold thing that I’ve had for all of the last week. There’s no good time to be sick ya know… I don’t want to be sick at work, but being sick while I’m off at home is really a drag, too. I had just under two weeks off and now more than half of it is gone. I’m just barely feeling well enough to even think about going somewhere. Just today, I passed on Church and a chance to see one of my best friends in Manchester (he was scheduled for a layover there tonight).
And some of the fallout of being sick is getting behind on everything that I’m supposed to be doing here at home. Now I have just a few days left before I have to go back to work and I have a million things to do. My sleep schedule is ruined (I tried to fix it with drugs and that didn’t work so I’ve given up), and I’m still mentally behind the power curve.
But I’m recovering…
I’ve gotten mostly caught up on email. I have some more to-do’s that are fairly urgent that I hope to knock out tomorrow. And then maybe I’ll be able to get back to ‘work’. And what is ‘work’???
– Sending out thank-you’s to the last month’s worth of FSP donors
– Putting the finishing touches on the Porc Fest schedule (one more possible speaker to contact)
– Starting the driveway project (I’ve already called the concrete contractor to set up a quote 😉
– Laundry, packing, getting ready for work (already?!? ugh!)
– Paying bills, going through a months worth of mail, etc.
– Making travel arrangements for our September Monterey Jazz Festival / CA trip
– Making a list of the 100 things I’d like to do before I die (courtesy of Edi).
And speaking of the 100 things… I suspect if I had made such a list 15 years ago, I would have crossed off most of it. Actually, there are a lot of things I would have never dreamed to put on that list. “Paragliding in the Black Forest” As if… “Joining a world-changing freedom movement” Maybe, but not like this… “Flying all over the world” Definitely not the way I’ve been doing it lately… But now I have to make a *new* top 100 list. That’s gonna be pretty tough seeing as I can’t put things on it that I’ve already done… Hmmmm…
Any ideas? What do *you* think I should do??? 😉
V-
One of my 100 things is hiking to Machu Pichu. If you haven’t done that, I’d recommend it. 🙂 My hs Spanish teacher did last summer and she said it was an amazing experience.
The hazards of replying to a message that I read an hour ago…I skipped to the bottom and forgot to say…
I’m so sorry to hear about your sister-in-law. I hope your family is holding up ok, and I’ll keep you in my thoughts.
And feel better soon! Don’t overtax yourself in your last few days trying to get *too* much accomplished.
Oh, and see you in July! I’m looking forward to Porc fest. 🙂 As well as visiting friends in New York, and going back to the place where my husband and I met. Ah…nostalgia. 🙂
Consider it done…
Praying for all involved, that is. I’ll mention to Tracy that she might want to call…
Been sick too – know how you feel. |-P
Attend a Crown Ministries class (with Edi, of course). Rock climb in the Himalayas. Get your Open Water SCUBA certification (and go diving with me & Josh!). Build a Linux PVR. Take a trip to low earth orbit. Run for a state office. Learn to sail a catamaran. Lead your children in that special prayer. Finish your degree (;-)).
