Don’t get me wrong, I love to travel. If I didn’t, I couldn’t do this job. But more and more I come home thinking “there’s no place like home”. This trip was a touch on the long side and I spent the entire time outside the U.S. Fortunately, I had internet access most of the time 😉
One nice thing about being away with internet access is that I’m able to get a lot done. I couldn’t even begin to list all the little things I did (all of them seemingly important). Did a buncn of FSP related stuff (any of you who are participants will see the results of some of that work soon). Took care of some ‘housekeeping’ details. Blah blah blah.
And I did have a few enjoyable nights on the town while I was out. After a year or two of using Germany for most of our tech stops, we’re back to using Ireland again. We made our presence known on more than one occasion.
But even though I got a lot done, and I had a few enjoyable diversions, I still looked forward to coming home more than usual. I don’t know if that’s just the beginning of a trend, or if there’s some other reason. Truly, the ‘work’ this time around was not as enjoyable as usual, which could have contributed to my more-than-usual preoccupation with home. And the crews were a ‘mix’, some great, some not so great. Though I really enjoyed working with the ‘good’ ones, there was some sense of ‘enduring’ the rest even though none of them were truly awful.
But now that I’m back home, I’m *home*. And I like it here 😉
Haha, if my home was in New Hampshire, I believe that I would feel the same way constantly ;D
