Israel, the Play, and Judah

The Israel trip was great. I have a lot to say about it and I’ll likely do that in blogs here. I also took a lot of pictures which I’ll link to in the blogs (once I get around to writing them). I’ll be working on all that this week.

As the Christmas season progresses, there’s plenty of stuff to do. Yesterday, the kids put on a play at Church. It was the first time that church has ever put on a play (the church is ~20 years old or so). It was a lot of fun. Edison was the donkey that Mary and Joseph took to Bethlehem and Erin was one of the sheep that the shepherds brought from the fields. Super cute. And there’s pictures of that, too 😉

There is a group of people from the church planning an Israel trip in March. I asked the pastor if he wanted me to plug it, since I had just come back from there. He said the trip was full but that I could do the advent candle lighting and reading. So I did.

That worked out well as the verses were Jacob’s blessing / prophesy to Judah in Genesis 49. The text fit perfectly with the Christmas theme and my trip to Bethlehem. It was neat to draw the connection from that ancient text to the reality we see around us today. And everyone else seemed to enjoy that, too…

Lots more later…
