Election Day Antics

Growing up in California, I heard stories about bussing people in from out of
state to campaign, vote, or otherwise influence the locals. Being a skeptic
of such conspiracy theories, I took the stories with a grain of salt.

Since moving to New Hampshire, I’ve had a chance to check out those claims for
myself. As the saying goes, seeing is believing. I wasn’t really paying
close attention until I saw one of the army of Kerry supporters in the heart
of Keene holding up this sign:

“No Busses From Mass”

That reminded me of those stories, so I started looking for the busses. I’m
happy to report I didn’t actually see any busses. But what I did see was an
army of people all over town campaigning for Kerry and very few campaigning
for Bush. I knew Keene leaned Democrat, but I thought it was a tad more lop
sided than I expected.

Then I started to spot signs of foul play. I found some Kerry campaigners
standing on one of the busy intersections in Keene beside their cars. They
had obviously driven there to hold up signs. There were two cars parked
closely nose to tail and the back car had a Kerry sign covering its license
plate. All this time I had been looking for busses. It was then that I
realized they were driving their cars. I slowed down and looked carefully
between the cars and was able to pick out the CT license plate on the front
car.

As I traveled around town, I saw more of the same. Then I started noticing
lots of cars parked in shopping center parking lots with MA, CT, and VT
plates all adorned with Kerry stickers. Occasionally I’d see people getting
in and out of them with their signs. I’m not suggesting all of the Kerry
campaigners were from out of state but I personally observed many of them.

It all became clear. Not only are they ‘bussing’ them in (in cars), but
they’re trying extra hard to hide it. I’m an amateur at New England politics
but I’m on to their game. The tragedy is the gal holding the “No Busses From
Mass” sign revealed the true character of her party: Liars.

I’m honest. I moved to New Hampshire. The Democrats are a bunch of liars.
They just show up to campaign, to destroy the freedom we seek to defend, and
then go home to their socialst rat holes elsewhere in New England. Next time
I’ll be ready with camera in hand to document it all.

An almost greater irony came the Saturday after the election. I went ‘to
town’ to do some shopping. Highway 9 comes from Vermont into Keene. As I
turned onto 9, I noticed a very long line had formed to turn left towards the
Wal-Mart shopping center. Of the dozens of cars in line, almost all of them
had Vermont plates. How foolish and hypocritical to campaign for more big
government in another state only to return days later to enjoy it’s tax free
shopping.

Cool… thats the story I voted for. So were all the people from the other states just going there to hold up signs?
