Cheap net in Abu Dhabi

Not having internet access basically drives me nuts.  I can do it, really, I can, but I don’t like to.  The internet, these days, is my primary means of communicating with pretty much anyone I know.  But I also have to be mindful of money.  The hotel here is charging almost $20 for a day of net access.  When my time ran out yesterday afternoon (about 18 hours ago), I decided not to re-up at that price.  It’s free in Shanghai and surely I can live without it for a day, right?

So last night I typed up some journal material (to be posted when I get to Shanghai) and went to bed early.  I was up early this morning so I decided to take a walk.  I have some shopping to do and I wanted to find some breakfast.  Apparently, you can’t do either of those things before 9 a.m. on a Saturday, but you can find an internet cafe for about $1 an hour.  Good stuff…

So I’ll be off to Shanghai in a bit for, among other things, a reunion with my internet drip.  Whew…
