The only historical snowfall data that goes way back in New Hampshire comes from Concord. It’s an hour away. Based on what’s happened in Keene this year, I suspect the relative closeness to all time records is comparable.
Last night, a little more snow pushed Concord to 112 inches of snow for the year which puts it in 4th place for all time records since the 1870’s. 3rd place is 112.4 inches and seems likely to be broken (that was 1995/1996). 1st and second paces were the winters of 1873/1874 and 1872/1873 with 112 and 115 inches respectively.
I don’t know what Keene’s record setting status is but I think that our December broke an all time (since records have been kept in the 1940’s) monthly record with 32 1/2 inches. I haven’t seen monthly data for February yet but I wouldn’t be surprised if it broke a monthly record, too. Given Keene has only kept records back to the 40’s, I’d guess this will be an all time record breaking winter for us.
On the bright side, though there’s still snow on the ground, it is melting at a pretty good clip… And… we lived to tell about it…
