LTE to the Keene Sentinel

To the Sentinel:

I hear a lot of campaign news relating to polling figures, fundraising, name recognition, or other elements of political action. Reporters tell us who they think can win or lose with words like “leader” or “longshot.” Are issues and the character of the candidates important anymore? I believe so.

I’m looking for the best person, not the most popular one, or even the best public speaker. I’m looking for someone who will not just support my favorite causes, but who will best protect everyone’s rights according to the Constitution. I want a President who will maximize the ability of every person to contribute, as we are willing and able, to our own well being and the well being of others.

Presently, the U.S. government tramples rights via the Patriot Act, REAL ID and other so-called Homeland Security measures. Our tax-funded military activity and foreign policy makes enemies around the world who will later attack us. U.S. economic policy is to spend, borrow, tax, and print money at such a rate that we’re crippled from helping each other and will pass on a mountain of debt to our children.

I hope for a President who will change all of that. Only one candidate will. Ron Paul wants to restore Hope for America. I’ll be voting for him and I hope you will, too.
