Annie Get Your Gun

Yesterday was Valentines Day. I’ve had some Valentines days that I’ve been home, and others that I’ve been away. This year, I had the pleasure of being home, which was actually a change from the original schedule.

A week or so ago, Edi suggested that, since I’d be here, we should go see the Keene Lions Club’s production of Annie Get Your Gun. It was opening Valentines Day (yesterday), but there was one catch. Our regular babysitters were actually in the production (along with others that we know around here). After a bit of deliberating, we decided to take our little Valentines with us.

It was the first time for Erin, Edison or I to get to see a show at the Colonial Theater, Keene’s local, historic, restored, and now quite active theater on Main Street. The theater was built in 1924 but declined for decades before efforts were made starting in the early 1990’s to restore it. It now hosts both live entertainment and films. Among other great events at the Colonial, the Monterey Jazz Festival 50th Anniversary tour is coming to the Colonial next month (unfortunately, I’ll miss it).

The musical last night was a lot of fun to see. It went quite long, though, lasting nearly 3 hours, including an intermission. The kids enjoyed it, too. 🙂

So Happy Valentines Day to us! 😉
