Well, it’s finally finished. I’ve completed the colossal checklist of training items required to be released to the line as a regular line pilot. The trip from Hawaii to California to Atlanta completed my OE and line check which were the last items remaining. The next time I go fly, it will be ‘unsupervised’, so keep one eye on the sky. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n
It sounds like once I get back from vacation they’re going to be very interested in using me as much as possible. I talked to scheduling after getting to Atlanta and they were already bugging me. On the bright side, that’ll make for a profitable summer…<\/p>\n
This will likely end the upgrade tag. Despite what seems like an eternity (late-January to mid-May = almost 4 months), it was actually quicker than a lot of people get through, mostly due to scheduling issues (I got lucky, others generally don’t so much). It was definitely a challenge, though. Many people here choose to upgrade on the airplane they flew F\/O on. The success rate for upgrading into an unfamiliar airplane here isn’t so great. It was a lot of work for me, and I continue to be in the midst of a huge learning curve, but I’m happy, now, to be through the training and off to the line…<\/p>\n
