Ironic given Marshall&#8217;s recent diagnosis&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Also, I got an update on Scott.  He had surgery yesterday and it turns out the cancer is not lymphoma.  It&#8217;s 90% probable that it&#8217;s thyroid cancer.  They removed an egg-size tumor which was completely contained and will biopsy it and return a more certain diagnosis soon.  If it is, indeed, thyroid cancer, they may do another operation soon.<\/p>\n<p>The good news there is that it&#8217;s just about the opposite from pancreatic cancer with respect to survivability.  Where 5-year survival rates for pancreatic cancer is well under 5%, the 5-year survival rates for thyroid cancer are around 95%.
