After all the political content, I suppose it’s time to get back to the traveling life. This coming week, I’ll take my first trip to Israel. That will be the third new country I’ve visited this year (India and Switzerland got checked off earlier this year). <\/p>\n

It’s Christmas time so I might see if it’s possible (and safe) to get to Bethlehem. Whether I do or not, it’ll at least be a neat experience to be close. From what I’ve heard, Tel Aviv is a fairly modern and secular city. The weather is forecast to be good for the day I’m there, too, so hopefully I’ll have a nice enjoyable visit. I’m sure I’ll write about it, maybe even while I’m there if there’s good internet access.<\/p>\n

When I get back, I’ll go home for Christmas. I have another trip at the end of the month (Toronto to Frankfurt) but my upcoming Captain upgrade training, if that actually happens, could affect my schedule for January. I was notified of the training a week or so ago, but since then, President Bush signed a bill into law which raises the mandatory retirement age<\/a> for airline pilots from 60 to 65. That could impact my training schedule. While the bill doesn’t has clause designed to prevent retired pilots from ‘coming back’, World has a number of over-60 former Captains turned Flight Engineers that never officially retired. If they all come back, I could wind up with yet another schedule change. Stay tuned…<\/p>\n
