Went to the House of Blues and Jazz tonight in Shanghai. Heard the Theo Croker Quintet. They’re all pretty young (Theo’s 22 and the rest are in that ballpark). The group is Theo Croker on Trumpet, Charles Foldesh on Drums, Tobin Chodos on Piano, Rob Adkins on Bass, and Heidi Krenn on Vocals. <\/p>\n
They did mostly standards, some of them arranged to suit them. I missed the first set and after that was a jam session so I didn’t really get to hear them play a lot of their own stuff. What I did hear was good though. Very capable young players. I played a tune or two which was fun, as usual. <\/p>\n
I also found out the House of Blues and Jazz is moving. I got a card with the new address written on it but it’s in Chinese, so I’m not sure how to write it in English. I’ll have to work on that \ud83d\ude42 It’ll be closer to the Bund I guess. <\/p>\n
