I probably shouldn’t post this. I’m really not fond of gossip. But it’s not
\nso much the gossip, but my ‘closer’ that got me (and everyone else)
\nchuckling. <\/p>\n
I pretty much get along with everyone at work. And almost always when there’s
\nsomeone I don’t get along well with, it’s the kind of person that almost
\nnobody gets along with. Well, the person in question, let’s call her Jane,
\nis fairly well known around here, but not because everyone hates her. I
\ncouldn’t guess the percentages, but maybe half of the people just love her.
\nThe rest can’t stand her. In order to keep from disliking her, I study her.
\nBut it’s really almost impossible to neither love nor hate her. Her
\npersonality is just that strong.<\/p>\n
As much as I hate gossip, there I was in the middle of this circle talking
\nabout her, almost right in front of her. Jane was, of course, noticeably
\nintoxicated, dancing, having a grand time and (most importantly) being Jane.
\nNaturally, everyone had something to say, and, among this group, none of it
\nwas at all flattering. In fact, some of the comments were downright nasty.
\nI felt bad. I didn’t even think about how my impending comment would go over
\nwith the ‘audience’ (not knowing their persuasions). But after hearing all
\nof the nasty and almost offensive (to me) characterizations, I succumbed to
\nthe temptation and jumped right in with my own Jane-bash:<\/p>\n
“Ya know, maybe that’s all true, but the thing that really bugs me, is she’s
\nsuch a hardcore, stereotypical, in-your-face Democrat.”<\/p>\n
