Without further ado, I give you Erin’s view on the 2016 Presidential election. V-<\/p>\n

11\/4\/16<\/p>\n

Dear Americans,<\/p>\n

The majority of you are aware we are about to elect a new president. To some of you, this is very important and you are putting great amounts of time and effort into making a decision on who to vote for. To others, the whole thing is just madness and you don’t know what to do. Our country has become somewhat of a laughing stock to the rest of the world. I am going to share with you my thoughts on the matter.<\/p>\n

I’d like to start by debunking a couple ideas that have been put in the majority of people’s minds. Firstly, there are more than two candidates. Most people think they need to choose between the Democratic candidate or the Republican candidate, but that is not the case. Secondly, a vote for a third party candidate does count. You might have heard the phrase \u201ca third party vote is a vote for Clinton\/Trump.\u201d You might have also heard the phrase, \u201ca third party vote is a wasted vote.\u201d Well, would it surprise you to know neither of these are true? If you vote for an eligible third party candidate, your vote is, as a matter of fact, for that candidate. It is not for Trump, Clinton or no one at all.<\/p>\n

Many people who are voting for Trump or Clinton don’t actually favor one or the other. Another popular phrase that is going around is \u201cI need to vote for one to keep the other out of office.\u201d The reality is, that is a very cowardly thing to do. It is essentially voting out of fear instead of voting for someone you think would be ideal to run our country. In my opinion, neither Trump nor Clinton are presidential material. The fact that the two leading candidates are both possibly criminals is ridiculous. We shouldn’t be feeding off the lies of the media and playing into the system.<\/p>\n

Your cowardice by not voting your conscience is doing America a disservice. If you really think Trump or Clinton should be president, then vote for one of them. If that isn’t the case, you really have no business voting for either. What you are doing is furthering the two party system and allowing no change for the better.
\nThe reality is, there is a high possibility that Trump or Clinton will win at this point. It’s now a big competition of who gets the most fear votes. Not only you, but all of America will have to suffer the consequences of making a foolish choice.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately I cannot vote this year because I am only 14. However, someone like me who puts this much thought into something like this at least deserves to be heard. While my parents have exposed me to their opinions over the years, I have researched and developed my own. I recommend everyone does some research and doesn’t follow blindly. Though it sounds clich\u00e9, it is truthful for me to say your vote counts. Whether it be Trump, Clinton, a third party candidate or even no one at all, you should vote based on who you would be pleased to see in office. Don’t take your right to vote for granted. Our country depends on it.<\/p>\n
